birthdays, glasses and more!

I thought it was time for another update as it has been a couple of months. The last few months have been pretty busy. Naleah turned 5, Alexa turned 3, we had our 11th wedding anniversary, several dance competitions for Katelyn, company, zoo trips, recovering from yet another surgery and an exciting new adventure for Naleah ~ GLASSES.

Steve has been busy with work and is gearing up for his annual Ukraine trip in July. He will be gone for close to 3 weeks again.
I have had some changes with my dayhome. In December I lost 2 families (3 children) due to work situations and a move. Steve and I were trying to make things work with just 1 child full time. At the end of April that family decided to move back to SK, so I no longer have any dayhome kids. I am spending time in prayer and seeking direction over the next few months as to what God has for us.

Here are a few highlights from the last few months:

Naleah's Big Day

Today is a day of celebration. Not only in our house but also with the angels in heaven.
With the help of a great book from a very special "Auntie" Gayle, Naleah asked Jesus into her life today. The story focuses on different colors to illustrate what it mean to be a Christian. It starts out with a black balloon... then explains the red balloon... then the white balloon... and ends with a green and orange balloon. Naleah has read this book several times but today she decided she was "ready". She said, "mom, I want my heart to be like the white balloon so I can always be with Jesus." So, we read through the book, Naleah explained everything to me and then asked me to pray with her. She hasn't lost her smile yet. We are so proud.
It is also really exciting to see that almost to the day, 3 years ago Katelyn used the same book to ask Jesus into her life.
Here is a picture of our proud new Jesus follower with her special book:

Missed it by THAT MUCH!!!

What can we say... the joys of pottie training. Alexa runs by me and says, "Daddy no help, pee self please" so I followed her in and encouraged her on the pottie. The next time (2 hours later) she runs by me again and says, "Daddy no help, pee self please" - so... after seeing the success of her last attempt I thought I should let her try completely on her own.

SO CLOSE BUT YET SO DISGUSTINGLY FAR AWAY!!!!
